If you’re all about repping Stone Island, there’s nothing worse than accidentally picking up a fufu hoodie. The resale market is flooded with fakes, and while some are blatantly bad, others can be surprisingly convincing. Here’s a handy guide to help you suss out the real deal and avoid getting stitched up.
Take a look at our TikTok covering this topic for a more visual guide to checking the authenticity of your Stoney hoodie:

1. Start with the Neck Tag
The neck tag is the first port of call when authenticating a Stone Island hoodie. On fakes, you’ll often notice a strange stitching border around the tag—proper dodgy. Real Stone Island pieces, on the other hand, don’t have this kind of stitching.
Another top tip: check the back of the neck tag. A genuine piece will have distress stitching that moves slightly when you run your finger over it. It’s subtle, but it’s a dead giveaway. From 2014 onwards, this detail has been consistent across all modern Stone Island pieces.
2. Don’t Get Fooled by the Badge
Here’s the thing: the badge isn’t always the best indicator of authenticity. Why? Because badges are removable and can be swapped around. I’ve even slapped a real badge onto a fake hoodie for testing purposes. So, don’t rely solely on the badge when you’re trying to spot a fake.
Instead, pay attention to the Certilogo. A real Certilogo’s “L” has a slight squiggle, whereas the fake ones are straight as a ruler. But be careful—this doesn’t apply to certain Maglia and knitwear pieces, which have straight “L”s even when they’re legit. Knowing these exceptions will save you from second-guessing yourself.
3. Keep an Eye on the Certilogo Game
A lot of sellers will try to cover Certilogo codes in listings or even cut them out entirely. If you get the chance, always scan the Certilogo for peace of mind. It’s a cracking way to confirm if the piece is authentic.
4. Stay Sharp in the Resale Jungle
The resale world can be a bit of a minefield, but with the right knowledge, you can navigate it like a pro. If you’re not buying from me, no hard feelings—but make sure you’re clued up so you don’t get stung. Videos like these aren’t just for fun; they’re here to help you stay safe and savvy.
And of course, if you fancy more tips like this, hit that red button and follow along. The Fugazi pieces? Straight in the bin where they belong.
Stay sharp, stay legit, and happy shopping!
